Shaolin Freestyle Gradings
To monitor our students and ensure they progress at an appropriate pace through the syllabus and their martial arts journey, we run regular gradings as an association.
Coloured sash gradings are every 3 months and a high level, Purple Sash and above, every 6 months.
All students require a current membership to be eligible to grade.

If you are taking a Purple Sash at a Coloured Sash Grading you are required to be there from 10:00 - 14:00.
There isn't a set lunch break, have plenty of snacks and fluids with you and eat when you get a chance. We do have students with food allergies, so please avoid nuts and sesame in your lunch boxes.

High Grades
High Gradings are split in to two parts.
The first being fitness based at Coombe Abbey, this will include a 5km (under 16's) or 10km run for Black Belt candidates and above. Anybody not taking a black belt is welcome to join us for the run, let us know in advance if you want to. Please wear normal fitness kit and trainers that you don't mind getting wet and muddy.
The second part is the traditional grading section. You will require your Gi, sparring equipment and any weapons / materials for breaking that you require for your level.

Senior Black Belt (over 16's) and Dan Graders you need to be at Coombe Abbey and ready to go for the first part of the run at 9.00am. Register at 8.45am.
Junior Black Belt and all other graders need to be ready to start at Coombe Abbey at 9.30am.
If you are breaking tiles as part of your grading, please have them at Coombe Abbey.
